Some homes just have that calm feeling you get the second you walk in. This six bedroom villa in Benahavís really surprised me. It just feels open and easy. The first time I stepped in, I remember the way the morning light moved along the stone floors and you could actually hear the quiet beyond the big windows. Sometimes you almost forget you're indoors because the sea views out there are just something. It is one of those places where you end up standing still for a second, just looking around.
The villa sits on a really spacious plot, little over three thousand square metres. It does not feel cramped at all. Right from the driveway, which is proper and smooth by the way, you see the low lines and clean design. No fuss, just everything in the right place. The garden is taken care of, with an automatic irrigation system so you do not feel like you have to fuss with hoses or sprinklers. I heard the soft click of the irrigation timer when I was there, which made me smile. Someone really thought about the little things here.
Inside, you can tell the builders used some of the best finishes around. Floor to ceiling windows that are taller than most people make a lot of difference. Sunlight just comes pouring in from everywhere, especially in the living area. Sometimes you catch little patterns on the tiles from the trees outside. There are glazed courtyards tucked inside which means even on the lower floors you get a good amount of daylight. It is just straightforwardly bright and you feel it.
Bedrooms are all generous, not just for show. Enough space to stretch out and not bump elbows. Each room has its own touch. One bedroom faces out toward the sea. That's the one I'd want for myself. Waking up with a salty breeze drifting in if you crack the balcony doors for a minute. Bathrooms are nice too. The finishes are clean and soft. Honestly you could leave your toothbrush out and it would still look tidy. Every shower and tap feels solid under your hand.
The kitchen actually feels like somewhere you'd cook for real. Not just heat up something quick and go. Silestone countertops, warm lights, appliances that you can tell have a good weight to them. There is a central island where I could picture friends chatting and sharing a few quick bites in the afternoon. A proper kitchen for people who love both food and friends.
Now about the basement, which actually gets loads of sunlight because of a glassy courtyard in the middle. This part surprised me. Down here you have a gym, proper space, and some of the best equipment I've seen outside of a private club. There is a rec room which would do for movies or late boardgame nights. Wine cellar too, with space to actually sit for a tasting or two. There is also a spa tucked away with a Turkish bath, a sauna, a heated indoor pool, and a shower that sort of steams the day away. Perfect spot for late evenings or when you just need a break from everything.
The outdoor spaces matter just as much. There is an easy lawn for sunbathing, a swimming pool that catches more sun than most. Plenty of space for summer BBQs with the kids and for people who want some privacy. There is parking for three cars so you are not juggling keys or moving someone's car at midnight.
In terms of sustainability, the whole villa uses an aerothermal system under the floors and good insulation. I noticed how cool it was inside, even when the day outside was a little sticky. Energy bills here will not shoot up and you sort of feel that comfort without thinking about it.
Benahavís gives you that quiet kind of privacy, but honestly nothing in Marbella or Puerto Banús is far. Coffee shops, bakeries, world class golf courses, and sometimes you see the neighbours with their dogs on evening walks. It is a part of Málaga where you never feel rushed.
