Sometimes you'll walk into a place and you can't help but pause a second longer than usual. This penthouse at 2675 South Bayshore Drive in Coconut Grove kind of gets you that way. I remember just standing by the glass and honestly losing track of time while Biscayne Bay shifts in the light below and all of Miami is laid out in this quiet sweep. Living up here, you feel tucked away and part of it all at once.
So this is a big one. Ten thousand square feet or so. The feeling is more spread out than you expect even when you know the numbers. You step in and it does not feel like the stark modern you sometimes find—it's just restful. Floors have a warm tone and the windows run forever. Nothing competes with that water outside. Steven G designed it but if you didn't know his style, you'd probably still notice the way everything flows. There is nothing cold or fussy here. It just feels welcoming from the foyer to the furthest private spot.
You get six good sized bedrooms and even those are never tucked away. Some face Biscayne and you'll wake up with that sunlight. Others feel perfect for guests if you have visitors or maybe if you have someone staying long term. There are seven bathrooms and a few more, and what I like is they all have their own character. Marble under your feet in the main one, soft light, nothing harsh. If you really want to soak after a day on the water, you will use that tub.
The kitchen is a real kitchen. By that I mean you can cook something serious here or just make a midnight sandwich and not feel out of place. There's plenty of counter space. Appliances are there when you want them but don't steal the show. I saw someone prepping fruit for a rooftop breakfast the other day and you could see over the bay while you sliced oranges. Honest little moment but it stuck.
Entertainment space is sort of the heart here. It does not feel like a showroom or some hotel setup. It's genuinely where people will end up, especially since you have that massive veranda wrapping around. Sunsets over the bay just beg for music and having friends over. The wine cellar is set off, easy to miss if you do not need it, but if you love collecting bottles or just keeping a few things cold, it feels like a small secret. Then there is a bar off to the side and again, it blends in—not the old fashioned style, just comfortable.
Working from home actually works here. There are two dedicated office spaces. They are not makeshift at all. You can shut the door, take a meeting, and then step out and see sailboats dotting the bay when the call is over. I know people who never really leave their home office but here you almost want to wrap up early and just sit outside.
Another thing you may not expect is your own plunge pool. It is private but not hidden away. You step out with your coffee or a cold drink, float for a bit, and everything slows down. Evenings are quiet, just warm air and lights from across the water. If you love cars or just want space, there is room for four in the private garage so you never worry about parking in the Miami heat.
Coconut Grove itself gives you every reason not to drive far anyway. Favorite coffee spots are all within walking distance. Dinner choices line the streets below. You'll see kids biking after sunset and neighbors you actually get to know. There is something about this part of Florida—close to the city but always a little unrushed.
