Some places just pull you in the moment you set foot inside. This three bedroom at The Plaza Private Residence in New York does exactly that. I stood near those huge windows for a while the first time I visited and honestly you could not help but soak up the view. You have the city on three sides from here and you get those landmark Grand Army Plaza vistas along with classic Fifth Avenue. Maybe it sounds dramatic but you feel the old New York elegance right away.
Everything about this apartment feels extra comfortable but also a bit grand. The ceilings are almost twelve feet so you get that open, airy vibe all over. When you walk in there's a wet bar that fits in so nicely with the living space. It is actually finished in Macassar ebony so it is not just for show and I could imagine friends gathered around it on a weekend. There's one of The Plaza's famous turrets in the living room which you probably will not find in another apartment. Sometimes the sun hits it in the late afternoon and it just makes you slow down and take in the moment.
People talk about “move in ready” all the time but this place is really that. The owners restored and updated pretty much everything in here and it feels brand new. Refinished parquet hardwood runs through the rooms. Recessed lighting means you get nice bright corners even in the evening. And even though you feel all that history there is nothing old or creaky.
The kitchen is surprisingly inviting. Not just for looking good but you honestly want to cook here. All the appliances are from the Plaza collection so you are getting Viking and Miele and that includes a big fridge and a proper oven. The countertops are this deep black stone called Nero Marquina. Plus you have a white marble backsplash that brightens up the whole area. There is actually a media room right next to the kitchen which is rare in most New York apartments. The built in cabinetry is that kind of custom woodwork you just do not see often and glass panels make it feel connected but tucked away.
Every bedroom is oversized. No squeezing around the bed in here. The master is especially calm with windows facing out over Fifth Avenue. Thierry Morali did the closets custom and you can see the detail. There is even a custom oak bed with side tables so you do not need to stress about furniture if you don't want to. The master bath is just one of those spaces you wish you could have at home. Two Kohler sinks, a soaking tub that's actually deep enough, a separate shower and the original Plaza lobby mosaic recreated in the floor tiles. Even the other bedrooms have en suite marble baths so guests or family get a bit of privacy too.
There is also a library here that you could actually turn into a fourth bedroom if you need one more. For now it feels peaceful. You can imagine reading while listening to the city outside but not really hearing it.
Living at The Plaza is about as New York as it gets. Residents use a landmark entrance separate from the hotel's own lobby which means a real sense of privacy. The landscaped gardens have fountains and pools which feels almost secret in the city. Of course you also have the Oak Room, Palm Court, Guerlain Spa if you want a treat, and The Plaza Food Hall for lunch or a coffee. The concierge and doormen are there all day every day and honestly they remember you after just a few visits. You can use the gym as well or arrange a limousine if you are heading somewhere special.
This is a part of New York history and you feel it every day. If you are interested or even just curious to walk through The Plaza Private Residence for yourself I am happy to answer any questions and show you around.
