The moment you come through those doors at Villa Capricho the whole world feels like it softens a bit. I cannot help but mention those views for starters. When you stand on the terrace the ocean stretches out ahead and you just get pulled into watching—sometimes it is boats off in the distance or the sun creeping over the hillside and honestly every time you look it is a little different. I spent a while out there myself. You start noticing the breeze up here on the hill. It does not matter how warm the rest of Acapulco is getting there is always cool air moving through. It gives the house this easy private feeling but still you are close enough to walk or drive down to the beach if the mood hits. In the evening sometimes music drifts up from below or maybe it is just the way sound carries out here. Either way you get this sense of really having your own patch of paradise without being cut off at all.

This villa in Acapulco de Juarez is designed for having people around you. I have to say eleven bedrooms is not something you come across every day—six with king beds that feel made for stretching out and five with queen beds for everyone else in your crew. It says up to thirty two people can sleep here and honestly I get it. But it does not ever feel packed or claustrophobic. The rooms are spread out. Spaces do not crowd each other. Sometimes in a place this big it can feel too quiet or a bit empty but here you can actually picture people here filling it with life—a big living room that just invites hanging out after a day in the sun. I sat on one of the deep sofas and you get that easy slow down feeling. Makes you want to just stay and chat a while with music going or just sharing stories after dinner. 

The kitchen is one of those real spaces that actually makes you want to cook. Instead of being a showpiece it is set up for real use—with a huge island in the middle and lots of worktops so everyone can get involved if they want. Full appliances of course and I could already imagine laying out a huge family breakfast with sunlight pouring in. The pool is something else altogether too. It cuts right to the edge of the terrace with ocean views all around. That splash you hear in the afternoons is probably someone who could not resist jumping in. Sometimes you catch a breeze while you are drying off and it feels like you could just stay by the water all day.

There are all these other touches that make it easy to see yourself living here for a week or for much longer. There is a full on projection room with cinema seats. Part of me was already planning movie nights. There is a games area for everything from board games to watching your favourite team. If you feel like keeping up with your workouts there is a private gym as well—so there is never a need to hunt for a fitness centre or wait for equipment. Throw in a Jacuzzi for those long evenings or days when you just want to decompress and you are set.

The outside spaces are some of my favourite parts. The terraces sort of wrap around giving you shaded spots when the sun is up and open spaces for stargazing at night. I lost track of time just watching the sky one afternoon. Kids tend to wander the grounds. Every once in a while you see someone zipping down the drive on a bike or running off towards the beach and honestly that is the best sign that the place works for families. The local coffee shop is not far either so you never feel isolated.
