Some places really make you pause for a second and notice the way the light comes in or how the air just feels a bit clearer. This four bedroom villa at Santani Residences in Werapitiya sort of had that effect on me. It sits up on the hills right above a tea estate so you feel a sense of space the second you step in. You almost notice your breathing slow down a little if you are coming from the city. Honestly I kept finding myself walking over to the big windows just to see how the clouds move over the valley.

The Santani Residences community is a part of Kandy most people only dream about. You get pockets of dense green all around and every home has been built with open living in mind. This villa really lives up to that idea. Inside the living room you get this feeling of calm because it just opens straight out to the terrace and there is so much glass you can see the green from everywhere. The big thing for me was the terrace though. It is sizeable and has a fireplace built in so you picture those easy evenings just sitting out even if it gets a little chilly. The infinity pool catches the sunlight in a way that makes every afternoon look like something out of a painting. Actually it is kind of impressive how the living room and pool almost blend together the only interruption is when you step out to feel the tiles under your feet.

Upstairs and on both sides of the living space are four bedrooms all with their own bathrooms. They did not cut corners in here. Every bedroom has its own private balcony falling straight out over the lawns. Just standing out there with a cup of tea in the morning you start to hear birds and sometimes you just forget about your phone. The master suite has one of those dressing rooms that lets you spread out and not feel cramped which is honestly rare and feels a bit like a hotel but still like home. I actually spent some time in the spa room too. It is tucked away just enough for quiet and includes a hot tub. You can imagine long evenings in there with no rush to go anywhere. There is also a separate room for staff with a bathroom which you might not notice at first but it makes life smoother if you have help around.

You will notice right away the materials feel natural. Stone that feels cool to the touch even at noon and wood that makes the rooms warmer. It all comes together with a sense of being close to nature without feeling too remote. Each villa at Santani gets direct access to a central building with a reception lounge a library and a restaurant that does proper gourmet cooking. There is even a bar if you fancy a local drink at sunset with other residents. I have seen people just linger around here reading or catching up after their walks and kids sometimes run up and down the paths that connect everything. Even so it still feels private because the estate is spread out in a way that gives you space from your neighbors.

What struck me was how easy it would be to just settle in. Maybe this is the place you come back to after traveling or maybe you have dreams of living in Sri Lanka full time. Either way it has the things that make life easy. Kandy is close enough that supplies and medical care are never far out of reach but far enough that all you really hear at sunset is the breeze coming through the trees and sometimes a little laughter from other villas as dinner is getting started.

You get about 6090 square feet of space here. That is a lot of room to spread out but not so much you feel lost. For what this place has to offer I think it is one of those properties that just feels right for a family or anyone craving quiet with a bit of elegance. The best way to know though is always to see it for yourself because it is hard to put the feel of the place into words. If you want to talk about it or even just drop by and walk around I am always happy to help. That is how we like to do things at LuxuryProperty.com just trying to make finding a new home feel as natural and relaxed as possible.
