Some places just feel a bit different the moment you walk in. This is honestly one of those. I spent some time in this two bedroom apartment at Principal Tower in Shoreditch, here in the heart of the East End in London. Standing by the floor to ceiling windows, looking out over the city and the Thames, you kind of forget you're in the middle of one of the world's busiest cities. It is quieter than I expected up here and you do get this sense of space that a lot of London homes just do not offer.

When you first get to Principal Tower you are greeted by these paved walkways and a landscaped courtyard. It feels pretty relaxed actually, and the concierge team always seems to remember faces, which I personally really like. They are around all day and even late at night, so whatever you need, or if you forget your keys or just want to check the post, someone is there. It feels reassuring.

Stepping into the apartment, you notice straight away how the space kind of divides itself. One side opens up into a proper living space where the kitchen blends into the lounge and then out to a terrace tucked in the corner. I leaned on the railing for a bit and just watched the clouds moving over London. There is something about an outdoor space up high that feels surprisingly private, almost like your own patch of sky. I can just imagine breakfast out here or maybe a slow evening with tea, looking out over the East End. You do not always get that in city apartments.

The kitchen is open but not too exposed, if that makes sense. It is all set up for cooking for real, not just heating things up. There is enough counter space to spread out a bit and invite someone to sit and chat while you cook, which, if you are like me, is how you end up making dinner more often than not. The master bedroom has its own ensuite and extra wardrobe space, which does make mornings a little less rushed. You'll notice the windows here too, again with a really calming view that just feels nicer than looking at another building. The guest bedroom is just across, and both rooms feel big enough that you would not get that boxy London feeling, if you know what I mean.

Principal Tower is known around London for its amenities. You have a proper lap pool if swimming is your thing. The gym is honestly better than most private ones I've seen, plus there's a spa that actually feels peaceful not one of those afterthought spaces like you sometimes get in other towers. There's a private cinema, which you will probably use more than you think, and a lounge downstairs that is good for working or just unwinding with a coffee from the nearby shops.

If you cycle, there is underground storage so you don't have to worry about your bike outside and you can even buy a parking space if you need it. Getting around from Shoreditch is easy, to be honest. Walk to the local coffee spots or ride into the city in just a few minutes. Sometimes, in the evenings, you see neighbours heading out or coming back with fresh groceries. There is a real sense of community around here.
