Magnificent Wine Estate In Florence Tuscany

Some places catch you off guard in the best way. I remember the first time I walked through the gates of Tenuta La Favola in the hills near Florence. Something about the air feels different out here, fresher maybe, like you could just let out a big breath and never really worry about picking your phone back up. You can smell the grass and the olive trees before you even see them and if the wind's just right, you catch a little note of wine resting somewhere on the breeze.

This whole private estate sits in the middle of the classic Chianti landscape. If you close your eyes, you can almost hear the soft hum of the countryside and honestly sometimes that is all you hear when you are out walking among the vines in the late afternoon. You have around eighty hectares all around you, which even in Tuscany is something special. This home really opens up for big family dinners or quiet mornings with coffee. I stood in the kitchen for a while and it did not feel like one of those spaces you only admire. You can picture actual things going on here. Cooking a real meal with friends or family. The dining area leads straight out onto a terrace and if you bring your glass out there in the evening, you get a really wide view over the rolling landscape. Sometimes the sunsets turn the hills gold and everything is so still you feel like you are looking at a painting.

There is space for everyone too. The main house is big but not cold. Bedrooms have those inviting touches soft throws left over a chair, lamps in the corners, a desk if you like to write a letter now and then. No two guesthouses are exactly the same but each has its own cosy feeling and a separate entrance, so friends and family can find their own corner when they want space. Staff quarters are here too but tucked away with privacy in mind.

One thing that pulls you outside every day is the pool. It sits just far enough from the villa for peace and a little privacy but close enough that you might forget your book and have to run inside for it. Lush gardens surround you on all sides and there is a little path I found where you can hide with a coffee and just stare out at the countryside. The views are honestly some of the best I have seen. On some evenings you can hear nothing but the swish of wind through the cypress trees.

Florence is always about half an hour away by car so you never feel too far from the life and culture of the city. But out here at Tenuta La Favola you get that rare sense of time slowing down. Plenty of space for your own vineyard project your own olive oil your own traditions whatever that means for you.
