Sometimes in high end villas the kitchen is barely used but this one feels like a place where you might actually cook together or at least fix breakfast and not just rely on takeout. And then the best bit is just stepping right out with your mug to the terrace or watching the light creep in while you get ready for the day.

Serenia Residences itself is well known along the Galle coast for being casual and welcoming. People use the amenities. I saw a few kids hanging out near the cabanas one evening with their parents reading close by. There is a fire pit for the cooler nights and, honestly, people do just sit and chat longer than they plan to. If you want some time inside you have a spa and a fitness area that catches early sunlight so you feel motivated to get moving. There is even a small library and two dining restaurants including the signature Oceana which does incredible seafood.

The concierge team here are genuinely helpful and will always want to make things simple for you, whether you need advice on where to eat or want to book something for the weekend. The local coffee shops are close enough to walk and both Wijaya Beach and Turtle Beach are minutes away, so those spontaneous afterwork swims are actually easy. Galle Harbour is nearby too so brunch or shopping trips never feel like an outing.

All in all, this could be a perfect permanent spot or just a lovely holiday home that pretty much takes care of itself. The only way to really know if it fits is to come and see it.
