Some places just put you in a certain state of mind right from the start and this three bedroom apartment in Vida Residences Dubai Mall really fits that. You know how some buildings in Downtown Dubai have that polished lobby feel but as soon as you reach this place there is something a bit more relaxed. Natural sunlight spills everywhere because of those huge windows and the first thing you'll probably do when you walk in is head over to see the Burj Khalifa view. It is honestly hard not to just stop and lean on the glass for a minute. You see the fountains too when they really get going and at night it is almost a different city out there.
There is an effortlessness to how the rooms connect that I keep noticing with Vida apartments. The open plan living area actually feels open, not just labelled as such. Sometimes open plan means a couch in the same zone as a fridge but here it feels like you could cook a proper dinner while friends sprawl out and no one would be in the way. I stood by the balcony doors and just watched the city for a bit because you kind of feel like part of it but you are also up above the buzz. It is quieter than you expect especially when the glass doors are closed. The kitchen here is set up in a way that does not make you feel awkward if you are not exactly a chef. It is modern and the cupboards have that soft close and everything is right where you want it which is kind of the dream if you have ever dealt with tiny kitchens before.
The main bedroom has loads of space. It does not feel cramped even with bigger furniture and there is closet space that actually works if you have more than two pairs of shoes. Bathrooms feel like they belong in a hotel and not one of those standard sorts. Good lighting good water pressure things you only really notice when they are missing but here they are just kind of there no drama.
Living in Vida Residences means you get treated a bit. There is a gym downstairs that lots of residents actually use because it is not tucked away and gloomy. Sometimes you see someone headed to the pool with a book or kids racing each other in the corridor because the place is friendly like that. Food options downstairs are solid you do not have to hike for a decent coffee and if you need quick groceries the Dubai Mall is honestly right there without exaggeration. There is even an indoor bridge so in summer you can skip the heat. You can catch a show at the Dubai Opera after work or just wander outside and be in the heart of Downtown in a few minutes. If you have family visiting or you just like to feel connected to the city this location is pretty hard to beat.
One other thing about Vida is how international it feels. You run into people from everywhere which adds something to daily life. There is a sense of coming and going here but also some stay for years which says a lot. You never really feel out of place. The lobby staff always give a wave and the concierge actually remembers names which is not that common.
Some nights you just find yourself on the balcony, watching the Burj lights blinking, and for a moment you sort of forget your phone and just look out. Mornings are nice too with all that light pouring in and if you like little routines, the coffee shop downstairs is never far. Sometimes you see someone walking their dog early or friends meeting before work.
