Some places just slow you down the second you walk in. This three bedroom apartment in Shams at Jumeirah Beach Residence had that effect on me. For a little while I just sat down by the window and watched the boats move across Dubai Marina. The sound was far off and soft, and the light here, especially in the afternoon, just spills everywhere. It actually made me forget for a second that I had my phone in my hand.
So a bit about the place itself. You are only a few minutes away from Jumeirah Beach and honestly you can hear a bit of the sea when you open the balcony door if you stand very still. The balcony has a bit of that Dubai Marina view everyone talks about and I found myself looking out even longer when the sun started going down. The master bedroom faces right out toward the beach and it has that kind of view you almost want to keep to yourself. There is a walk in wardrobe that makes mornings easy and an en suite that feels calm and low fuss. The bedrooms are all good sizes, not just one big and the others tucked away like you sometimes see. Each space actually feels like it gets its own piece of light.
The living and dining rooms are offset from each other, so if you have a family or just like having company over, nobody is stepping over one another. The family room is set a little apart and I can picture movie nights or just a quiet coffee in the morning. The kitchen here feels like a place where you would actually cook more than takeaway. There is room to move around, proper storage for everything, and even a laundry room and maid's room tucked away so daily life feels easy. Everywhere you turn there are nice little bits of storage and you can tell it was designed to actually be lived in.
Now the area, I think Marsa is a special spot in Dubai. Shams is right at the heart of it, with everything you need nearby. Stepping outside you see families walking, sometimes kids are biking and you often see dogs pulling their owners toward the little green park. The community pool is always a nice spot on a warm day and, honestly, it gets just the right amount of sun without being too hot. Play areas are there for the little ones and once in a while you hear kids laughing on the breezy walkways. You get a good gym right in the centre of the promenade, so you do not have to plan your whole day around a workout.
One of my favourite parts about this area and this building in particular is just how easy daily life feels. Coffee shops are within easy reach, you have salons and pharmacies around the corner, and the supermarket is open all hours if you need milk or a midnight snack. If you have a sweet tooth, the patisserie downstairs is worth a stop now and then. The Marina Mall is not far at all—it is a relaxed scenic stroll on days when you want to get out and stretch your legs and you get the sea breeze following you most of the way.
What stands out for me is just how seamless everything feels here. Spaces flow into each other, little things like built in storage just make life easier and, honestly, even on busy days there is a sense of calm here. You will probably forget your phone for a bit too.
