Sometimes you walk into a place and it just feels like you could pause life for a second. That pretty much sums up what happened to me at this two bedroom apartment in Boulevard Heights right in Downtown Dubai. Everything around here feels alive but also, inside, it is kind of peaceful. I could hear a bit of city life drifting up when I opened the window then I just stood there for a while looking out over the city skyline. Honestly, there is something about seeing the Burj Khalifa so close that never gets old. This home is tucked away just enough that you notice the quiet, but the minute you step outside, all of Downtown's cafes and restaurants are just a quick walk in any direction. Sometimes you can even hear a bit of music from somewhere on the street, especially around the Opera District which is basically just down the road.
As for the apartment itself, I think one of the nicest things is how it does that mix of modern and warm. The architecture of the tower has a bit of New York or Chicago about it and you get that little city buzz just from being here. But walk inside and the first thing you notice is how the neutral colors and wooden touches make everything easy on the eyes. The living space is open all the way through from the kitchen to the big windows and you just get this light that pours in at any time of day. I have seen a lot of places that look fancy but kind of cold this one does not feel that way at all. The kitchen actually feels like a spot where you would try out new recipes not just heat up takeaway. Plus, the bedrooms are genuinely big — I am guessing if you like to wake up to sunrise light you will love the setup here.
Another thing that surprised me is how well everything flows. Sometimes apartments in the city can feel a little boxed in but here, with those floor to ceiling windows and views that just keep going, you almost forget you are in the middle of Dubai. I spent a little time one afternoon just watching the movement below from the living room it almost feels like a movie. Even though you are way up in a fifty storey tower, when you are inside, you do not feel far from the action at all. And if you need anything at all, the podium levels have these cafes and little shops that are honestly just convenient. One of those places has fresh bread in the mornings which, if you are up early, is kind of nice to have right downstairs.
For days when you want to slow down, there is a really nice swimming pool tucked among some green landscaping, and a health club that is just down the podium. Even if you are not big on working out, it is handy for unwinding or meeting a neighbor now and then. I have seen parents with strollers enjoying walks around the area, and sometimes you see kids biking around the safer corners at dusk, which somehow makes the city feel a bit more like home.
The thing with living in Downtown Dubai is that the city sort of becomes your backyard. Dubai Mall is a stone's throw away, you are right by the best dining spots, and if you like going out in the evenings the Opera is always hosting something interesting. I have to admit, it is the sort of location where you never really run out of things to try or places to see.
Honestly, it is all about how a place feels when you are in it. If you are curious or if you just want to look around and see if it fits your life, let me know.
