Some homes just have a certain way of making you pause in the hallway. This four bedroom duplex at La Riviera in Jumeirah Village Circle does exactly that. When I first came in, you could actually catch the late sunlight dancing across the living room flooring and for a moment it almost made me forget I had appointments after. The entire place is up on the very top floor so you really get that sense of privacy that is not always easy to find in Dubai.

Honestly, if you like the idea of a Monte Carlo themed spot, you will pick up hints of that style as soon as you walk in. It is not over the top but there is a gentle grand feel in the way the windows look out over the city and how the open spaces connect. The thing I like about this duplex is you do not have the same old layout everywhere. There are actually two living rooms here. The first one greets you straight off the main hallway and it is open so you never get that boxed-in feeling. The second living room is set more quietly to the side and closes off if you want some real family time or an actual meeting space. I can just picture someone finishing up work calls here while the rest of the family relax on the other side.

You have a closed kitchen, and lots of people ask me if it is really suitable for cooking. This one gives you enough room to move sideways, to chop stuff, to set out ingredients. I could see someone baking bread for real in here or setting out dozens of plates when friends come over. Storage all around plus all the appliances you need. Now for the balconies. I could actually hear birds in the morning when I stood outside. You get one balcony that stretches out from the main living room and wraps around to a bedroom. The second balcony runs along both master suites and the views from up here go right across JVC and beyond. You know, sometimes in the evenings, you see kids riding scooters down the main boulevard. You look out and it feels just peaceful. There is something about being up high and still connected to what is happening below.

Inside the building, La Riviera takes the lifestyle side seriously. They have a gym here where people actually work out not just pose for photos. There is a steam room for those evenings when you want to unwind and, if you are the type, they have what they call an experience shower, which is more fun than it sounds. The outdoor pool has one of those Jacuzzi corners and if you have kids, the aquatic play area is lively most afternoons. You get a barbecue spot and a lounge space too for lazy weekends or catching up with friends. Everything feels just right here, not too much but not lacking either.

Jumeirah Village Circle is honestly handy. There are clinics close by in case you ever need one, supermarket runs are easy, and some of Dubai's better schools are a short drive away. Getting in and out is simple and that saves you those extra minutes each day.
