Some places just feel right before you even know quite why. That is what happened the first time I walked into this two bedroom apartment in Olivara Residences in Dubai Studio City. The light here is honestly wonderful. I stood inside near the living room and just looked for a bit because the sunlight pouring in from those wide floor to ceiling windows is almost soft. You have this warm, gentle glow on the oak kitchen and all over the wood finishes. It is the kind of feeling that makes you want to spend a slow morning with coffee and maybe music playing low.
The building itself is one of those modern takes that does not feel cold at all. I know Hazel Wong designed it which might not mean much at first but you notice small things. Like the way everything fits together without trying too hard. The kitchen actually feels like somewhere you would want to cook something proper. There are these quartz countertops that are surprisingly smooth to the touch when you run your hand along them and the oak cabinets really do feel solid and real. Appliances here are from TEKA and just feel well built. No fighting with the oven controls or fiddly settings. Even if you just make toast it feels just a bit better.
The living room is probably where you will spend your time, at least that was my feeling when I watched families coming and going from other apartments here. The space opens right out onto a balcony and if you look over you get a community view. Some evenings there are people outside catching up or walking their dogs. Sometimes you even hear laughter from the children's play area just down below. It is very much a lived in community. Not in a noisy way, in a comfortable way. You feel like someone would notice if you disappeared which is sometimes rare in Dubai.
Both bedrooms in this apartment are generous. “Generous” means you can actually fit beds, some furniture, maybe even a proper chair if you need it for work from home days. The master suite – and I love this bit – has a walk in closet that is made for two people who do not want to fight over hangers anymore. His and hers means no mixing up things or squabbling over space. You will notice the soft touch cabinets and just how much storage someone smart decided to build in everywhere. The wood feels nice and the tones are restful. At night the rooms get quiet and you just hear the occasional hum from outside. Sometimes you forget your phone and that is not a bad thing.
Speaking of outside, the building takes amenities seriously but not in a showy way. There is a pool that feels almost too big to be true and people do actually swim laps, which I always think is a good sign. The sun deck around the pool is a place where you see people reading or just soaking up the light on a Sunday morning. The gym is modern and always seems tidy. I saw free bicycles in the lobby and remembered how easy it is here to just ride to the coffee shop around the corner or grab a few things from the market. There is kids space too for families, and underground parking so you never worry about the heat on your car. Plus, security is there all the time which makes it easy to feel relaxed.
Location is honestly pretty handy. You are in Dubai Studio City which means getting anywhere is straightforward. Schools and hospitals and malls are not far at all. You are not stuck in traffic for hours and you always have options if you want to head towards Jumeirah or out towards the city's main roads.
If you ask me, this is the kind of space that grows on you the longer you stay. Sometimes there are small details, like the scent of the lobby or the way the hallway feels cool when you come back from a run. I could keep describing it but honestly the only real way to know is to come see it. If you want to walk through or just have a chat about what life is like in Olivara Residences, reach out any time. We try to make your next move something you feel good about, not just a search for another place to live.
