An Elegant Villa In The Hills Of Son Vida

Some homes just slow you down the moment you walk in. This villa in the hills of Son Vida does exactly that. I remember standing by one of those floor to ceiling windows for a while, no rush at all, just looking out over the Bay of Palma. The way the morning sun bounces off the water down there is something you have to see for yourself. And the hills all around, they seem to wrap right around the villa, making everything feel tucked away and private. Son Vida has a quiet kind of buzz to it. Even though you are so close to Palma itself, you would hardly know it. You get a sense of being close to the best bits of Mallorca but still far enough to feel like you have really got your own piece of countryside. In the evenings you sometimes catch the clink of golf balls being played nearby and I have seen a few joggers who take the winding road past the house.

The design here is hard to pin down in just a word or two. Inside you get this honest mix where it feels very much like Mallorca on the one hand but very up to date on the other. All the white walls and the clean shapes inside have a way of making you breathe a bit deeper. And then you look down and it is all real stone and wood under your feet which keeps everything grounded and cool in summer. You can tell the living spaces are meant for people to actually use them. The main building gives you a big open dining room that is easy for groups or family dinners but also works if it is just a couple of people curled up with coffee. I love that there is a wine cellar here. It is tucked away but not forgotten, and it feels like something you would actually dip into when friends turn up.

There are six bedrooms in the main villa, each of them spacious and most with windows that seem perfectly placed to catch the best views across the bay or into the hills. Waking up here would be something else. Every room has those stone tile floors that feel cool even when the sun is hot outside. In total, there are three kitchens across the property, which always makes sense when you have a place with more than one kind of living area. I did pop into one of the kitchens and honestly it feels more like a spot where you might make dinner from scratch rather than just reheat leftovers. The home office looks out onto some greenery too. You could get quite a bit done here. And then there is a proper spa room. It is the kind of feature you might not think you need but once you see it you start thinking about how good a steam or sauna could be after a round of golf.

Walking outside, the villa splits into two main buildings and two different pools. I spent some time near the main pool and did that thing where you dip your toes in just to see if it is warm. Out front you have another outdoor pool and an actual BBQ setup which feels perfect for laidback weekends or quiet evenings in. The terraces run along each level of the villa and every single one gives you a slightly different view. Sometimes it is the gardens that get you, sometimes it is a patch of mountain or a slice of the bay. Everything feels designed to let you move from one space to the next without ever really leaving the outdoors behind. I saw a few birds, small ones that seemed right at home in the gardens here.

Son Vida feels pretty much like Mallorca's hidden hillside escape. People know it for the golf courses and the views but honestly, living here just feels easy. Palma is not far if you want a café or some busy shopping but sometimes it is just more tempting to stay put and watch the sun move over the hills.
