There is something about Hilltop Court on Alexandra Road that just feels laid back and easy the second you walk in. Maybe it's the way the light comes through the windows in this three bedroom apartment or maybe it's the quiet you find here even though you're really not far from all the energy of St. John's Wood and London life. When I visited I actually paused at the stairway for a minute. You can hear birds from the communal gardens below and honestly it almost makes you forget you're in the city at all.
So you get two floors here and it spreads out to about 946 square feet which never feels crowded or boxed in. Downstairs you have a reception room that blends into the kitchen space and you can see right out onto the gardens. Kitchens matter and this one actually looks like somewhere proper meals get made and not just takeout containers lined up on the counter. Living here you'd have room for a big table or honestly just some comfy chairs if that's more your thing. Right off that reception space are two good sized bedrooms. They actually catch the morning sun so if you're an early riser it's a nice start to your day. The bathroom is close so it's just easy and makes sense.
But the most interesting part is upstairs and it covers the entire top of the apartment. They have it as a master bedroom now and it feels really open and quiet for sleeping or working away from distractions. You can hear less from downstairs so it feels separate and private. The thing is the layout isn't fixed. Some people might rethink the upstairs room and make it a lounge or a proper office or even an art studio. It's that kind of flexible space that you don't always find in typical London apartments on Alexandra Road. Plus if you get a bit creative there's talk of expansion or renovation because the bones are solid and there's room to grow.
When you step outside you'll notice the community in Hilltop Court is actually quite friendly. Sometimes you'll see neighbors sitting out in the communal gardens with coffee or the paper or watching kids play. It's not massive but it feels like an old London pocket where people still say hello. Shops are never far. There's a bunch just down Alexandra Road from grocery spots to small restaurants you might wander to on a lazy Saturday. I noticed one Italian place always had someone waving through the window.
Getting around is pretty simple. Swiss Cottage and South Hampstead are close so if you need to get into central London or just across the city you can hop on the train or bus in no time. Sometimes I think people forget how handy this part of London is until you try living here and realize you're close to everything but it just feels calm. For families moving in or even young couples or singles who want a bit more space a place like this can be a real find. Everyone always talks about location and connection to the city in St. John's Wood and this apartment gets that balance right.
I should mention the price is at six hundred forty nine thousand nine hundred fifty so while you're getting more space than a lot of flats in this area it still feels pretty accessible for what's on offer. With the potential to make some changes and really make it yours it's a good fit for someone who wants that next chapter somewhere that just feels right.
