Some places really do make you slow down and look around. This unique seven bedroom country house near Florence in the heart of Tuscany is honestly one of those. The first time I wandered up the long drive I actually had to stop and take a deep breath. You're surrounded by open land that just seems to keep going. There's a kind of peacefulness that you do not get just anywhere especially with the mountains always there in the background. The mornings start soft here and you might wake up to birds moving through the olive trees or the gentle hum from the vineyards. The sun hits the lake and the stone walls of the old villa and you just feel like you are part of something that has been here for hundreds of years.
You'll notice straight away just how much ground this estate covers. The entire plot is spread over almost two hundred ninety thousand square feet which still sounds wild every time I say it. There are about eight and a half hectares of vineyards that are fully working so you get that real Tuscany vineyard dream feeling. Some of the best wines in the region have actually come from this land and if you walk the property you can spot the old vineyard workers tending to the grapes early in the morning. There is also a whole extra twenty eight hectares of vineyards nearby that the estate rents to really push up the wine production. It is not just about grapes though. You will find roughly fifteen hundred olive trees standing quietly on about seven hectares of the estate and yes they actually turn out top notch olive oil. The smell of the olive groves in the late afternoon is something else and sometimes all you want to do is sit by the trees for a while and let the hours slip past. People also grow saffron here which is still rare even for Tuscany and it gives the place this extra rich earthiness.
What really sticks with you though is the buildings themselves. The main villa dates back to the thirteenth century. Just walking through those old stone archways and looking at the way the sun comes in through the small windows you can feel the history tucked in every wall. The owners turned it into seven independent apartments but there is nothing corporate about it. Each one has its own big living space and a proper kitchen that you can actually imagine cooking in not just heating something up after a long day. There is one bedroom in each apartment but my favorite part is the private gardens or terraces outside. Sometimes you just need that quiet space to slow down with a coffee or maybe a glass of red as the sun sets. Tourists love staying here but it is easy to imagine living in one yourself and inviting family for those sprawling Tuscan weekends.
Then there is the wine cantina. Three levels in all and about twelve hundred square meters to play with plus it is not trying hard to impress. The basement and ground floor are mostly used for storage which is handy during busy harvest seasons. The ground floor has a welcoming tasting room and a lounge that almost begs for a group of friends to gather and sample new bottles you just brought in from the vineyard. Upstairs you will find offices that watch over the whole process. It is all practical but with just the right amount of old world charm.
Step outside and it keeps getting better. There is a swimming pool out back that faces right into the sunset over the valley below and you can easily imagine lazy afternoons with nothing to do but float and look at the mountains. There is woodland and parkland to wander plus a lake that sometimes catches the evening sky just right. Your closest neighbors are usually birds and the occasional deer and yet Florence is only a short drive away if you need city energy or a proper espresso.
So if you are dreaming of a real Tuscan estate with genuine vineyard life plus enough space and privacy to really settle in you might want to walk through this one. Honestly sometimes you almost forget your phone out here because there is just so much to take in the old fashioned way. If you want to talk more or see what it feels like in person just let us know.
