Some places just feel like they've got a story to tell. This classical estate in Chianti, right near Florence, almost whispers its history as soon as you walk through the old entrance. The gravel crunches a bit under your feet and there's always some bird or breeze moving through the olive trees. You notice right away—this is not some pretend piece of Italy, it actually works. There are vineyards stretching out in every direction, you can spot the patchwork of olive groves further up the slope, and the buildings sit calm in the sun like they've always belonged here.
The main villa itself was standing here before most of us were born, built back in the early eighteen hundreds. There's something about old Italian stone that makes you want to slow down. High ceilings, wooden beams, thick walls that keep things cool even in the middle of August. There are five bedrooms inside, each just different enough that you don't feel like you're in a hotel. Some mornings, you look out and see the fog settle across the valley before breakfast. Honestly, it just feels easy.
That's not all. There's a second building close by, with eight separate apartments that people book for short breaks, sometimes staying for weeks if they're lucky. Some are one bedroom, some a bit bigger. Each one opens out towards the land and you catch that fresh countryside air without even trying. Kids run between the two swimming pools with towels trailing behind, and you see families and friends laughing in the late afternoon sunshine. The larger pool sits behind a small private garden that looks right across the hills, so you can read a book and just watch the light change with the seasons.
This is more than a home, though, it's a real, working winery. There's about one hundred hectares all together, with close to twenty of those just vineyards and another twenty with olive trees. Most of the vines are Chianti Classico, planted mostly in the west fields where the sun lands perfectly. Some of these rows have been here for almost fifty years, others are just getting started. Sometimes you see a tractor in the early morning, the smell of earth and leaves drifting up. I swear you also notice the winemaking isn't just for show—there is an entire cantina here, where the aging really happens. I popped my head in and the place smells like wine barrels and cool stone. It's a good sign.
The olive oil is the other pride of the place. Four thousand trees and a harvest that actually makes a difference. They pick by hand and press the oil close by, filling tins that are sold in Florence and further out. Sometimes, when you walk along the edge of the grove, you only hear wind in the leaves. You can almost forget your phone for a while, and that's not a bad thing.
Near the entrance, one of the original outbuildings holds the tasting room and a small reception, plus offices for the business side of things. There are even a couple of older structures waiting for someone to give them new life. Maybe an artist's space, or extra rooms for gatherings.
The whole estate isn't just a family home—right now, it's actually run by people with decades of experience. Vacationers come through for a real taste of Chianti, wine gets bottled and shipped both across Italy and overseas. Even a well known American wine group buys from here, if you can believe it. And if you're new to this, the current owner is happy to stay around and help you learn the ropes—no pressure, just honest advice on how things are really run.
Florence itself is never far. Sometimes all you need is a real espresso in a city bar, and you can easily head in for an afternoon or evening out. The best thing is, you get that perfect mix of peaceful countryside and big city culture whenever you want.
The only way to know if this estate feels like it could be yours is to come see it for yourself. Ask anything you want—no need to rush—and if you feel like walking the rows or taking a seat under one of the old olive trees, let us know.
