Some homes really do slow you down the moment you step inside. Villa Quercia in Chianni is one of those places. I think it's partly the history. This old stone farmhouse has stood quietly looking out over the rolling Tuscan countryside for well over a hundred years. If you're like me and like a place that feels like it actually belongs where it is, you'll probably find yourself pausing and just listening to the air here.
Walking through the main door, you're greeted right away by that unmistakable rustic style you only really get in these historic Italian homes. Worn brick and wood that just feels smooth under your hand. Light streaming through thick windows. Some people call this farmhouse living but honestly it just feels easy, especially since everything here has been updated for comfort. All seven bedrooms have air conditioning and proper WiFi so you're not missing those everyday things. Two of the bedrooms sit on the ground floor and the rest are upstairs. I wandered up and took a moment to just look out from the big veranda. From up there you get an endless sweep of green hills and trees that seem to go on and on. Some days you might see a thin line of mist or hear church bells off in the distance.
And if you really care about those daily details, the kitchen here is actually set up for real cooking. There's enough space to do big family dinners. I picture making fresh pasta or having a quiet breakfast while the early sun hits the window. The living room gets that old school warmth from its fireplace and you get these high vaulted ceilings with arches that kind of remind you why these farmhouses still feel so inviting after all these years. This is the sort of open space where you'll find yourself reading on the couch as everyone else drifts through.
When I stepped back outside, I could see how the garden really wraps you in quiet. There's a private swimming pool just a few steps away. Its salt system keeps things soft and clean on your skin. Even in the height of summer, it's peaceful out here—you'll hear birds, sometimes the sound of a breeze in the trees. I can imagine families spending long afternoons in the shade, maybe someone grilling by the barbeque or a group lounging under the gazebo with a glass of wine. There is plenty of outdoor seating and if you ever wanted that dreamy Tuscan dinner under the stars, there's a dining table outside built for fourteen people. Kids can run around the lawn until dusk. If you stay long enough, you'll start to recognize the constellations.
Plus, there's an annexe right by the house. I poked my head in and it has a proper kitchen, dining area and a wood oven. It is easy to picture pizza nights or fresh bread coming out of there. Guests or extended family can stay over and still have their own space to unwind.
The location is classic Tuscany, really. Chianni has that lived in village feel with slow mornings and friendly faces at the coffee bar. San Gimignano, Pisa, Siena, Lucca and Florence—some of the most loved art cities in Italy—are not far. You could make day trips, or just wander out for a local trattoria lunch in the village. Honestly, sometimes you almost forget your phone here.
Everything about Villa Quercia feels made for lingering. Whether it is for a big family gathering or just as a sanctuary to write that book or maybe dream of running a boutique guesthouse in Italy. There are so many possibilities and absolutely loads of space inside and out.
The only real way to know if it fits is to come and experience it. Reach out any time if you want to visit or just chat through questions about life in Tuscany. At LuxuryProperty.com, we just want your move to feel as natural as breathing.
