Some homes really do make you stop for a minute and just take it all in. That happened to me the first time I stepped onto one of the Floating Seahorse villas on The World Islands in Dubai. You come over on a boat and Dubai falls away behind you for a while. Honestly it did not even feel real as the water changed color and you drifted closer to this cluster of one of a kind villas that actually sit on the water. The air is a bit saltier here and everything somehow feels slower and quieter.
This is a one bedroom villa and yes that is going to surprise a lot of people when they hear the price at first but things start to make sense when you stand inside and just look around. Most of the time with sea view properties you get some good windows facing the water if you are lucky. Here the sea actually becomes part of the house. The villa is built over three levels and the layout is just full of surprises. When you walk in you are in the main living area surrounded by glass on all sides so every time you turn your head there is blue water catching the light outside. There is a big waterfront deck where you could sit for hours. I did. Sometimes you only get the sound of boats in the distance or birds overhead. The kitchen is open plan and it actually feels like you might use it to make real breakfast or a good coffee before going outside. There is enough room in the living space that you can spread out with friends but it is also private enough that it never feels too open.
It is when you head down to the lowest level that things get interesting. The bedroom is underwater with large glass walls looking straight out into the ocean. One time I was here and a shoal of fish just drifted past at eye level. It is the kind of thing you never really expect at home. Waking up here must feel almost like a dream honestly. The design is bright and modern and everything is finished to that top Dubai standard but it is not cold or overdone. There is enough closet space and the bathroom makes the most of natural light even though it is technically underwater.
Upstairs there is another surprise. The open terrace above can be whatever you want. Some people turn it into an outdoor lounge or a place to do yoga when the sunrise is just right. It can actually be turned into a spare bedroom if you have guests. There are views in every direction and sometimes if you look back you can even make out the city skyline on clear days. If you like to watch the stars at night it is perfect for that. The sea breeze here feels softer. Even sitting with a book up there just feels easy.
Life on The World Islands is different. The community itself is made up of small islands each inspired by different places around the globe. There are five star resorts nearby if you want to have a fancy dinner or spend the afternoon at the spa. A few high end shops too for essentials or things you forgot to pack. The staff around the islands are friendly without being over the top. The boat ride to the Dubai mainland is not long at all and sometimes it feels like a good reset before you get back into city life.
Honestly it is hard to imagine living anywhere else if you love the sea or just want something nobody else has. This floating villa is a real piece of Dubai luxury at The World Islands. The only real way to find out if it fits you is to come and see it in person. We are always happy to let you walk through and ask as many questions as you like.
