Ashjar, Al Barari
Sometimes you walk into a place and it just feels, I do not know, a little softer than you expected. That is kind of what happened the first time I visited this one bedroom apartment at Ashjar in Al Barari. The walk in takes you through these green, really leafy paths that honestly do not feel like Dubai at all. It is almost cooler under the trees. Some mornings here you might just pause and take a breath because the city noise suddenly feels miles away. I have been in a lot of luxury apartments, but something about Ashjar just invites you to slow down.
People always ask me if Dubai truly has quiet spots and, well, this part of Al Barari really proves it. Over half the community is just lush gardens, open lawns, little lakes, everything you probably would not expect smack in the middle of the city. If you are into wellness, you will probably get a kick out of this. There is that really popular spa called Heart and Soul a few minutes' walk from your door. A lot of residents say the little café The Farm is a regular weekend thing. I have been there myself, to be honest, probably had the best iced coffee of my week. When you open up the main door to this apartment, you just get this big swath of light right through the place. Floor to ceiling windows does help with that. Most days you will catch views of bright green treetops or just the lake peeking through the branches.
The living space does not try too hard. You will notice straight away that it is open, sort of minimalist. Nothing fussy. Pale, soft colors everywhere just kind of melt together, so even if you bring your own style you will not have to cover up anything strange. The kitchen sits just where you need it to be so you can chat with friends or keep an eye on a recipe. This does not feel like one of those show kitchens no one actually cooks in. I actually stood by the stovetop and could see myself learning to make coffee here, just slow mornings and sun on the counter.
Step out onto the terrace and well, most mornings you will see a bit of mist on the grass. The breeze is there. If you are a yoga mat in the sunrise kind of person, it almost feels made for that. It is big enough for outdoor dinners or just sitting there with your feet up looking at the water. Evenings can be really nice. Sometimes you hear frogs or even late birds singing, which always gets me.
Now for the bedroom, it just feels private, honestly. Some apartments in Dubai, you open the door and you feel right up against everything. Here, it is tucked away with nice deep windows, lots of room for a big bed and honestly more wardrobe space than I thought possible in a one bedroom. You do not hear much at night, so sleep just comes easy.
The rest of Al Barari keeps a quiet pace too. On walks, you might notice families biking around, or just joggers out before it gets hot. The gym, Body Language, is always open if that is your thing, and the best part is you are never really that far from Downtown Dubai or the main roads if you do need to get back into the buzz.
To sum up, this is a place for someone looking for somewhere real. Something peaceful without feeling far from everything. It works as a main home or even a second base for the months when you just want Dubai on your terms. The only way to know if it feels right is to come see it for yourself.
