Best Ways to Celebrate Halloween in Dubai

Written by Muhammad Qadeer

Halloween is just around the corner, and we couldn’t be more excited. The spooky event brings people together from all backgrounds to indulge in fun filled activities. Last year, Halloween didn’t exactly go as planned due to pandemic restrictions, but with restrictions easing this year, we expect Halloween get-togethers to be in full swing. In this blog, we look at some fun-filled activities to indulge in during the festive period.

Get your Halloween Costumes on

For all the Halloween party-goers, a creepy costume is a must. Thankfully, Dubai has a lot of options from where you can get a Halloween-themed outfit. For a whole range of options, look no further than Party Center. Whether it’s the Killer Clown, Catwoman, Freddie or Leatherface, they have it all; and at a very reasonable price point. Head over to their outlets in Garhoud or Internet City and get your creepy look on. You can view their product line on their website.

If you are looking for something really sinister, checkout Mystique Costumes. Having branches in Al Barsha and Jumeirah, The brand enjoys a positive reputation for providing premium quality costumes for not just Halloween, but a variety of occasions. But for this Halloween, they are introducing some truly sinister outfits. From phantom pirates and witches on a broom to blood thirsty vampires and grim reapers; Mystique Costumes are well-stocked to give you that sinister look you want – albeit at a high price point. You can view the whole range of offering on their website.

With your costumes sorted out, let’s look at some places where you have a memorable Halloween experience.

Best Places to be at on Halloween

3 in 1

Vida Downtown’s 3 in 1 is famous for hosting Halloween deals every year, and this year is no exception. Imagine spending a night under the stars inside a haunted cabana – yes! The contemporary restaurant is also offering some exquisite delicacies with a Halloween twist. Expect possessed shrimps, undead chicken, and hellish desserts (all in good fun). The party this year is expected to start around 8p.m and continue till midnight.

BARE

Sponsored by Nike, BARE is a unique fitness complex located in Business Bay. Like year, the gym is gearing up to put up a Halloween-themed fitness extravaganza this year. Whether it’s your first time to the gym or you’re a regular, the state of the art facility will enable visitors to lose calories to the tunes of Halloween. We are expecting BARE to kick off proceedings with a pre-workout potion, and workshops on healthy living. Moreover, plenty of prizes and souvenirs will be up for grabs.

Queen Elizabeth 2 Hotel

Fancy celebrating Halloween on a luxury ocean liner? Queen Elizabeth 2 is a ship turned hotel located in Mina Rashid, will offer a myriad of spooky activities to visitors. Imagine munching on a fondant cake that resembles a human brain or jelly spiders that look hideous but taste delicious. The luxury ocean liner also features an all-exclusive immersive haunted tour, called the Project Rising Start that takes you through hidden rooms, and spooky passages. The crew and live musicians will also be dressed up for Halloween; while for children, there will be a haunted ghost hall. The ship during Halloween can certainly give the Flying Dutchman a run for its money; and for less than 400 AED per person, you can enjoy the brunch and explore the ghost ship.

Alserkal Avenue

Billed as the art and culture center of Dubai, Alserkal Avenue will be draped in the colors of Halloween and showcase surreal works by underground artists in the theme of Halloween. The real Halloween bash takes place at The Junction; where storytellers will share spooky tales from around the world; accompanied by scary sound effects and props. While the place is usually free of charge, but on Halloween a 50 AED entry fee will be applied on ages 15 and above.

Tricks, Treats and Treks

While a tad unconventional, Sonara, a magical desert camp cum dine in experience, will be hosting a variety of Halloween-inspired activities for its guests. Right in the heart of Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve on Al Ain- Dubai Road, the eco-friendly desert will serve up attractions such as, pumpkin carving, cupcake making as well as Camelback Trick or Trek; where kids will voyage through the desert, meeting ghouls and spirits with plenty of treats. Scrumptious Arabian and Continental cuisine will also be on offer.

Distillery

There are very few if any bars in Dubai that can top the high standards set by Distillery. Located in Downtown, the bar will be celebrating the “Hallo-weekend”, like last year and will double the fun – including a haunted house-themed décor and plenty of treats and prizes for guests with the scariest outfits. If last year is anything to go by, the brunch fun will start after noon and continue till midnight. Some notable mentions from the Halloween inspired menu include a four cheese truffle brisket poutine with peppercorn gravy, tuna tartar, garlicky prawn tacos, butter chicken curry with cashewnuts, mushroom risotto, and cheesecake paired with Halloween themed trick or treat desserts. Alternative Ways to Celebrate Halloween

If you don’t like to get out of your pajamas or find the idea of spending Halloween outside exhausting, you can be creative and spend Halloween at home with friends and family. The most obvious option is to turn the lights off, call your buddies and watch a horror flick on Netflix. Alternatively, if you are a family man, you can have a Halloween-inspired scavenger hunt, in which you hide candies and prizes in your house and leave Halloween-based clues behind for the kids. It’s a fun way to engage with your kids and enjoy the treats in the end.

Halloween is one of the most anticipated dates in Dubai. Majority of restaurants and attractions offer Halloween-themed evenings where you can partake in a host of activities. Even if you don’t want to go outside, there’s so much that can be done in your own backyard. It’s a question of how creative you want to be.
